2015 Honda Accord Hybrid Safety Features

Honda is committed to providing safety for everyone-that means crash protection not only for our own drivers and passengers, but also for other vehicle occupants, and injury mitigation for pedestrians. We are dedicated to identifying and implementing advanced designs and features that help enhance the safety of vehicles on the road.

Rearview Camera

Every Accord Hybrid features a rearview camera, and the multi-angle camera on EX-L and Touring models displays what’s behind you from three unique angles[1].

[1] Always visually confirm that it is safe to drive before backing up; the rearview camera display does not provide complete information about all conditions and objects at the rear of your vehicle.

Forward Collision Warning (FCW)

On EX-L trims, a small camera mounted at the top of the front windshield can detect the presence of vehicles in your path; the Touring model uses a radar sensor located in the front of your Accord Hybrid. If the FCW system determines that you are at risk of a collision, it activates audio and visual alerts to warn you[1].

[1] FCW cannot detect all objects ahead and may not detect a given object; accuracy will vary based on weather, speed and other factors. System operation affected by extreme interior heat. FCW does not include a braking function. Driver remains responsible for safely operating vehicle and avoiding collisions.

Lane Departure Warning (LDW)

A small camera mounted between the windshield and rearview mirror can track lane markings on the road, and if it determines that the driver is making an unintended departure from a detected lane[1], visual and audible alerts warn the driver (EX-L and Touring).

[1] LDW only alerts drivers when lane drift is detected without a turn signal in use. LDW may not detect all lane markings or lane departures; accuracy will vary based on weather, speed and road condition. System operation affected by extreme interior heat. Driver remains responsible for safely operating vehicle and avoiding collisions.

Advanced Compatibility Engineering™ (ACE™) body structure

The latest-generation Advanced Compatibility Engineering™ (ACE™) body structure features additional materials to increase crash performance in narrow offset frontal collisions. ACE is a Honda-exclusive body design that utilizes a network of connected structural elements to distribute frontal crash energy more evenly throughout the front of the vehicle. This helps to reduce the force transferred to the cabin and to evenly disperse the forces transferred to other vehicles involved.

Every Accord Hybrid features sleek, stylish Daytime Running Lights. They not only look fantastic with their LED bulbs, but DRLs also help make the new Accord Hybrid more visible to other drivers on the road.

SmartVent® Front Side Airbags

In the event of a moderate-to-severe side impact, the SmartVent® side airbags are designed to deploy and inflate quickly to maximize potential protection for properly seated occupants—helping to protect the driver’s or front passenger’s upper body from injury—or vent before fully inflating if an occupant is in the side airbag deployment path, thereby decreasing the likelihood for an airbag-related injury.

Side Curtain Airbags with Rollover Sensor

The side curtain airbag module is positioned along the side of the headliner. In the event of a sufficient side impact, this system will activate to help provide protection for both the front and outboard rear occupants on the side of impact. The side curtain airbags are also connected to a rollover sensor to help provide protection in a rollover.

Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS)

Drivers often unintentionally drive with underinflated tires, which can result in tire failure, as well as impaired handling and reduced fuel efficiency. TPMS monitors the pressure in all four tires, and alerts the driver when the air pressure in any tire becomes significantly low[1].

[1] For optimal tire wear and performance, tire pressure should be checked regularly with a gauge. Do not rely solely on the monitor system. Please see your Honda dealer for details.

Vehicle Stability Assist™ (VSA®) with Traction Control

Vehicle Stability Assist™ (VSA®)[1] is standard on all Accord models. During an understeer or oversteer condition, it can brake individual wheels and/or reduce engine power to help restore your intended course.

[1] VSA is not a substitute for safe driving. It cannot correct the vehicle’s course in every situation or compensate for reckless driving. Control of the vehicle always remains with the driver.
