2015 Honda Fit 5-Door: Safety Features

Honda is committed to providing safety features for everyone—that means crash protection not only for our own drivers and passengers, but also for the occupants of other vehicles, and injury mitigation for pedestrians. We are dedicated to identifying and implementing advanced designs and features that help enhance the safety of vehicles on the road.

Multi-Angle Rearview Camera

Moving in reverse is a lot less stressful with a multi-angle rearview camera, and this über-useful feature comes standard on every Fit. The multi-angle rearview camera shows much of what’s behind you from three different angles, and it is a NHTSA recommended crash avoidance safety technology[1].

[1] Always visually confirm that it is safe to drive before backing up; the rearview camera display does not provide complete information about all conditions and objects at the rear of your vehicle. The FIT is equipped with a rearview video system recommended by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. Information about crash avoidance technologies as part of the Government 5-Star Safety Ratings program can be found at

Next-Generation ACE™ body structure

The next-generation Advanced Compatibility Engineering™ (ACE™) body structure is a Honda exclusive design that utilizes a network of connected structural elements to distribute frontal crash energy more evenly throughout the front of the vehicle. This helps reduce the force transferred to the cabin and evenly disperse the forces transferred to other vehicles involved.

Anti-Locking Braking System (ABS) and Electronic Brake Distribution (EBD)

Fit's anti-lock braking system (ABS) uses a special modulator to pulse the brakes to help prevent wheel lockup. This helps the driver retain steering control during hard braking. The Electronic Brake Distribution (EBD) system balances the braking forces at each wheel according to how the car is dynamically loaded.

Dual-Stage, Multiple-Threshold Front Airbags (SRS)

These airbags are capable of being inflated at different rates depending on crash severity, seat-belt usage and/or other factors. Frontal airbags are designed to supplement the seat belts to help reduce the likelihood of head and upper body injuries in frontal crashes.

Airbags inflated for display purposes.

Side Curtain Airbags with Rollover Sensor

The side curtain airbag module is positioned along the side of the headliner. In the event of a sufficient side impact, this system will activate to help provide protection for both the front and outboard rear occupants on the side of impact.

Airbags inflated for display purposes.

SmartVent® Front Side Airbags

In the event of a moderate-to-severe side impact, the SmartVent® side airbag is designed to deploy and inflate quickly to maximize potential protection for properly seated occupants, helping to protect the driver's or front passenger's upper body from injury, or vent before fully inflating if an occupant is in the side airbag deployment path, thereby decreasing the likelihood for an airbag-related injury.

Airbags inflated for display purposes.

Vehicle Stability Assist™ (VSA®) with Traction Control

Vehicle Stability Assist™ (VSA®)[1] is standard on every Fit. During an understeer or oversteer condition, VSA brake individual wheels and/or reduce engine power to help restore your intended course.

[1] VSA is not a substitute for safe driving. It cannot correct the vehicle’s course in every situation or compensate for reckless driving. Control of the vehicle always remains with the driver.

Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS)

Drivers sometimes unintentionally drive with underinflated tires, and that impairs tire responsiveness and reduces fuel economy. This system monitors the pressure in all four tires, and alerts the driver when the air pressure in any tire becomes significantly low[1].

[1] For optimal tire wear and performance, tire pressure should be checked regularly with a gauge. Do not rely solely on the monitor system. Please see your Honda dealer for details.

Daytime Running Lights (DRL)

Daytime Running Lights help make your Fit more visible to other drivers on the road, so it’s easier for them to see you coming.

Front 3-Point Seat Belts with Automatic Tensioning System

Front 3-point seat belts ride across the lap and chest to help restrain occupants during sudden stops or impact.

Lower Anchors and Tethers for CHildren (LATCH)

The outboard rear seats feature the LATCH (Lower Anchors and Tethers for CHildren) mounting system for use with compatible child seats.
